ABSTRACT

17 patients suffering from a serious kind of osteogenesis omperfecta have been treated in the M.T; KASSAB Institute. The technique usually perdormed is the intramedullary rodding on the patients who all suffer from a serious distortion often unabling them to walk. The aim of the surgical treatment is to strengthen the members segments in order to enable the child having a vertical position and to increase his functionnal capacities. The results are burdened by the infectous complications, the limits of the impllants, and by the reeducation and bracing appears inadequacy. Improvement and efficiency, as far as the functionnal result is concerned, are bound to the use of telescopic intramedullary rods which will reduce the number of surgical re-operations imposed by the patients growth and to a better phisiotherapic cure
